Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
I’m Katherine. But that name is only ever used on legal documents and maybe a few people from college when I was trying out the name. You can call me Katy.
Now I’m sure when I was born, the idea of usernames and urls was not in the discussion when choosing a name because now 20 years down the line, I’ve had quite a few identity crisis in the past year because I don’t know if I should go by Katherine or Katy because everything linked to me online is Katy and Katherine is too long for usernames. So now I am stuck with just Katy.
I graduated high school, decided that college wasn’t the next step for me and I moved to Australia all on my own. I am still figuring out where exactly I’m going in life, but I’m excited.
My favorite thing in the entire world is documenting my life. Hence the blog and youtube channel. It’s really what I was born to do! My favorite form of capturing life is through photos and videos. I started photography ten years ago, with no classes, no experience and no instruction manual. I found a camera in my dad’s drawer and the rest is history. In the last couple years, I’ve gotten more into video because I love looking back at moments and found that videos capture it best.
I’m a talker. Anyone who meets me has a harder time getting me to stop talking than getting me to open up. I love sharing everything about my life and things I’ve learned throughout my life to anyone with ears.
And that’s why I started this blog. I could do all I do privately. I could use my creative energy to fill hundreds of journals. But making it public is a way for me to connect with people, and inspire others with my embarrassing stories, and life lessons. I’m not your typical blogger who plugs fit teas and charcoal toothpaste. I don’t use affiliate links, I don’t get paid to post content. I just have a lot to say!
Things you’ll learn about me:
Timing isn’t my thing. Everything is planned last minute, or not planned at all. “Fashionably Late” has always been my thing.
“Short and Sweet” isn’t in my vocabulary. (Haven’t you noticed?) I ramble on and on, and take too long to get the point across.
I’m a fangirl by choice, and I’m not quite sure if I will ever be fully devoted to another man the way I am to Harry Styles.
I’m an old soul, in the sense that as a little girl, I knew every Beatles song by heart. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Revolver were the only two CD I played in my room and made sure that Yellow Submarine, Track 6, woke me up every morning. But on the topic of music, I love all things Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, I could go on.
My favorite movie is “Pretty Woman.”
If I could have dinner with anyone living or dead, it would be Mick Jagger on my left, Princess Diana on my right and Stevie Nicks in front of me.
Young Hugh Grant will always and forever be my first love.
I love people. I love learning all about people, talking to people, invading their privacy, tasting their food and asking to hold their babies.
I love connecting. That’s what this day and age is all about. Connection. I am very thankful for the time I was born, as there are more opportunities than ever before. We have so much at the tip of our fingertips. We can meet our lover, best friend, long lost cousin. That is the simplest reason I can give you as to why I exploit myself to the internet as much as I do. Maybe it’s because I crave social validation. Maybe it’s because I want to show my kids how cool their mom was someday. But when it comes down to it, I use these platforms to connect with as many people as I can in the time I am here on Earth. Through documenting my own life, I want to inspire people, help people and maybe even make someone’s day a little brighter. And that is the sole purpose of this blog.
This is my 20 year old thoughts, and my 20 year old experiences.
And I hope you stick around awhile.
